Born Quito , Ecuador , August 13, 1965 ; admitted, 1989, Ecuador . Education: Catholic University of Ecuador , Law School (J.D., 1988); McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, Salzburg , Austria (Dipl., 1989). Recipient , United States Department of State Award for role in the Protection of Intellectual Property rights in Ecuador and the establishment of a world-class Intellectual Property Law.

Adding to his practice of law is his entrepreneurial and management experience as President (2003 – 2007) of a multinational oil producing companies joint venture that built and operate a privately owned pipeline.
